Ngati Whatua o Orakei Maori Trust Board has appointed Rob Hutchison as its investment chief executive, following the retirement of long-serving chief Tiwana Tibble.

Hutchison is a former Valuer-General, former chief executive of North Shore City Council and former chief executive of Viaduct Harbour Holdings.

He has also held roles at Jones Lang Wootton, Colliers Jardine, been chief executive of Landcorp Property in Auckland and chief executive of Valuation New Zealand.

Hutchison has had an extensive career in property.

In 2005, he worked on North Shore developer Rick Martin's $3.5 billion plans for Albany, a scheme which was never built. At the time, Martin's Cornerstone was buying Neil International, the company that owned the 50ha of land involved in the scheme.

In 2006, Hutchison ran his own consultancy, Waitea Property Advisory.
