Average worker buying 60pc of online purchases at work

Something your boss probably suspected, but won't like hearing at all.

Latest statistics show the average worker could be costing their employer $14,000 a year in time spent on personal business.

Edward O'Leary from time management firm Abtrac says 60 per cent of all online purchases are made during work hours.

He says it is all down to modern technology which makes constant communication possible.

"It's grown over time, it's used to be the old water cooler or talking about what was on TV last night but now it's more text messages, emails, Skype, Facebook," he says.

Mr O'Leary says it is the so-called little things which lead to an average of five-hours productivity lost each week.
