It was an unforgettable golden moment for four members of the Tauranga Bowling Club at the World Masters Games in Auckland on Thursday.
Skip Mary Solomon, Margaret Roberts, Helen Harris and June Mabbett won a memorable come-from-behind final against Carlton Cornwall from Auckland in the fours final of the 60 to 69 years category.
Solomon said her team defeated teams from Canada, Australia and New Zealand to be the highest qualifier going through to finals on Thursday.
She said the final was "a big battle" after Tauranga dropped five on the first end, which was about as bad a start as it gets.
"We were 5-0 down and then dropped a shot on the second end to be 6-0. We got two back on the third end to be 6-2 then they went ahead 8-3 before the seventh end we scored a four to make it 8-7. They then got a two to go ahead 10-7 but on the ninth end we got a three to tie it up 10-all.
