The meet is ideally placed as a build-up event for the New Zealand Age Group Short Course Champs in Auckland next month and has contributed to a star studded roster of nationally ranked swimmers.
Star billing goes to Greerton's Nathan Capp, 22, as he prepares for the World Swimming Championships in Kazan, Russia next month.
He will contest his favoured 1500m freestyle tonight and despite being in heavy training, his own New Zealand record of 14m 38.74s could be under threat. Capp will also be looking to test his form over the 400m medley on Sunday.
Another swimmer to watch will be breaststroke specialist Jeffrey Arona-Tuifana'e, 20, from the powerful Howick-Pakuranga club. Arona-Tuifana'e finished second behind Olympian Glenn Snyders in the 50m breaststroke at the NZ Championships and comes to the Greerton meet as the No1 seed in all three breaststroke events.
In the splash and dash department, Waikato swimmer Daniel Caldwell, 18, starts as favourite in the freestyle and butterfly sprints with a 50.44s seed time over the 100m freestyle.
Former World Junior champion Gabrielle Fa'amausili, 15, continues to support the Greerton meet. Spectators will be hoping to see a sub-60 second 100m backstroke from the multiple NZ Junior record holder.
Greerton local Libby Bradley, 16, will relish testing herself against some of the faster girls. Sunday afternoon's finale is the featured Medley Skins event where the meeting's top 10 points scorers are selected for five heats leaving every two minutes.
The slowest two swimmers are eliminated in each heat with the last surviving swimmer taking a $300 first prize after swimming five races in under ten minutes.
