For some people, it can be hard to find a sense of belonging while living in another country.
This is the main reason organisers of Tauranga's Chinese Moon Festival say it is important to celebrate the event in the city.
The Chinese Moon Festival, which is a family reunion festival, is the second most important event on the Chinese Calendar, behind the Chinese New Year.
Bay of Plenty Chinese and Business Association president Candy Yan said the festival, also known as the Mid-Autumn Festival, was like a family reunion celebration so providing the Chinese community with an event to be part of on the day was like giving them a sense of home away from home.
"For us ... away from home, it's very important to find a home," Mrs Yan said.
