A generous stranger made a spontaneous $100 donation to a Dunedin intermediate school sports team while on a flight to the AIMS Games in Tauranga.
The Balmacewan Intermediate basketball team was on a flight from Dunedin to Auckland on Sunday when Air New Zealand announced they were heading to Tauranga for the AIMS Games.
Team member Ollie Cashmore, 12, was handing out lollies to passengers with his team when he said a man asked him what the AIMS Games were.
"I explained it was a tournament with over 10,000 kids in Tauranga and my team was from Dunedin," he said.
"I went away and later on he came over with $100 and he said, 'This is for you to buy icecream for your team and wine for the mums'."
