Part of one of the Bay of Plenty's busiest highways remains closed today.
Te Puke Highway near Papamoa remains closed after roadworks began there last week.
Traffic is to be guided along a detour Bell Rd and Tara Rd.
The roadworks are being held to construct a roundabout at the intersection with Welcome Bay Rd. The detour was put in place early on Friday morning and through the weekend.
A New Zealand Transport Agency spokeswoman said the first one-lane closure was expected to be completed yesterday but wet weather and difficult ground conditions caused a delay.
"The detour will be put back in place next weekend while the work continues.
"Full road closures to Welcome Bay Rd will be in place during late July and late August with detours provided. The work is weather dependent."
