Plans are still being considered for an America's Cup parade in Tauranga.
Tauranga Yacht and Powerboat Club commodore Nick Wrinch said "its all happening but its taking time."
Mr Wrinch has been in touch with Team New Zealand's winning helmsman, Tauranga's Peter Burling, who is keen to bring yachting's most coveted trophy to his hometown. The Tauranga City Council was leading the initiative, Mr Wrinch said.
Gareth Wallis, manager of city events at the council said his staff were working with Emirates Team New Zealand to confirm the details of any America's Cup celebration in Tauranga.
"We would love to celebrate the amazing America's Cup win with Peter Burling and Emirates Team New Zealand in his home town and hope to have the details of an appropriate celebration in Tauranga confirmed soon."
