Trustpower TECT Rescue Helicopter crews had a busy afternoon after they flew two separate patients to Waikato Hospital for urgent treatment yesterday.
The first incident involved a 57-year-old woman who had suffered a severe allergic reaction after she was stung by a bee in Whangamata.
The rescue helicopter was sent to the scene at 12.30pm, and once the patient was stabilised by St John paramedics, she was flown to Waikato Hospital for further treatment.
Trustpower TECT Rescue Helicopter pilot Todd Dunham said soon after returning to the Tauranga base at 3pm, they were called to Wairere Falls near Matamata where a 24- year-old tramper had fallen and suffered a serious lower leg injury.
The tramper required immediate hospital care, he said.
