Her philosophy was simple, she just wanted to do the work so that everything ran smoothly, he said. "She was a perfectionist."
Mr Kluit said her meticulous attitude applied to both her husband Steve's agricultural services company and to the way she operated within the Blue Rovers Junior Soccer Club, Greerton Rovers Soccer Club and the Otumoetai Club.
He described her as a quiet person but someone who got to the point when she needed to get her message across."Football was part of her family. She treated the players, particularly those that she had known for a long time, as part of the family."
Aims Games tournament director Vicki Semple said Mrs Miller had been with the tournament since it began in 2004 and was an absolute perfectionist. She took over the lead role as football co-ordinator in 2009.
"Denise was so incredibly committed. It was her work ethic and skills at doing the draws. She was the one picking up the rubbish at the end of the day, she was always the last person to leave," Ms Semple said.
The number of AIMS Games football teams grew from 16 in 2004 to 90 last year, including 32 girls' teams. "She had a lovely manner in dealing with coaches and players."
Mrs Miller's life began in Balham, England, where her father Victor Hutchins was a boiler maker/engineer. The family migrated to New Zealand aboard the Northern Star in the 1960s, settling in Hamilton where she attended Maeroa Intermediate and Hamilton Girls High.
She met Steve when she joined Pool Brothers Engineering in Rotorua. They married, had their first son Tim and then made the decision to shift to Tauranga in 1983. Soon afterwards Mr Miller set up his first company Steve Miller Water Services, with second son Daniel arriving in 1988.
Mrs Miller is survived by sister Jan, husband Steve, sons Tim and Daniel, daughter-in-law Carly and four grandchildren.
