Tauranga's Mayhem Racing has kicked off the season at the right end of the Meremere Dragway competition series points table.
The Eze Auto Electrics sponsored 1965 Chev Nova, powered by a 565 chev engine, is piloted by Glen Oldfield and is in the second full season of the competition series. The car was imported from America as a rolling body, the new engine was sourced also from America, allowing the team the flexibility to build a successful car.
It's a family affair with support of chief crew Pat Oldfield, Glen's father, and Michelle Oldfield, Glen's sister.
Oldfield began the season at the first competition meeting held at Meremere Dragway on October 30 as first qualifier with a 9.092 pass at 139.37mph (224.2km/h). The win at the meeting put him at the top of the points table in the Procomp class.
The second of the competition series, the Top Alcohol and Top Doorslammer challenge, was a twilight meeting held at Meremere Dragway last weekend.
