The Trustpower TECT Rescue Helicopter was called out to Te Kaha last night to help a 12-year-old.
Pilot Todd Dunham said the 12-year-old girl suffered a medical condition that required immediate hospital care.
She was stabilised by a Te Kaha medical centre doctor and St John paramedics before being flown
to Whakatane Hospital.
The helicopter was called due to the location and distance by road to the nearest appropriate hospital, Mr Dunham said.
