Bay of Plenty Regional Council staff have removed about 80kgs of clumpy oiled flotsam and sea grass from Tauranga Port today.
Port of Tauranga alerted the regional council that debris had been spotted in the water, near berth ten.
Council staff from the Maritime and Pollution Prevention team responded and removed the oily flotsam/jetsam and sea grass.
A visual inspection of shorelines around Ferguson Park and Pilot Bay were also undertaken to ensure debris had not been carried outside the port area.
