A house was engulfed in flames earlier this morning in Waihi.
A fire communications spokeman said two fire crews were called to Mackay St in Waihi at 10.19 this morning where a house was "well involved" in fire.
The fire was believed to have started in the roof space but has been contained and fire crews were dampening down hot spots.
The spokeman said he understood no one to have been in the house when the fire started.
Fire crews were removing roofing iron and ventilating the house.
