7.09pm: A passing motorist is giving first aid to the male driver of a car which crashed in Matapihi Rd after it appears he suffered a hand injury.

A Police Northern Communciations spokesperson said emergency services were responding to a report that a car had rolled on Matapihi Rd.

There were no reports of injuries.

Our reporter at the scene said it appeared the vehicle had skidded off the road, and ended up about 40 metres away from the railway tracks.

The male driver was out of the vehicle and walking around, and the fire brigade had just arrived, the reporter said.
