A 30-year-old Auckland woman has been airlifted to Whakatane Hospital from Te Kaha today with lower abdomen injuries after she got caught up in a rope swing.
Trustpower TECT Rescue helicopter pilot Liam Brettkelly said the woman and her friends were rope swinging into a river when the injury happened this afternoon.
Mr Brettkelly said the patient was initially taken to Te Kaha Medical Centre where it was decided she needed helicopter transport to hospital.
The woman was airlifted to Whakatane in a moderate condition, he said.
