A Tauranga property developer appeared in Auckland District Court yesterday accused of carrying a pistol and more than 400 rounds of ammunition on a central Auckland street.
Guy Perry intimated guilty pleas to the two charges and his case was transferred to Tauranga District Court. If guilty pleas are confirmed there, Perry could face as much as three years in prison or a fine of $4000.
According to court documents, the defendant was arrested on Saturday on Federal St after being found with the .22 pistol and the ammunition.
The Companies Office website lists Perry as the director of at least six companies and he is the registered owner of two properties including a bach in Ohope with a capital value of more than $1 million.
He was remanded on bail and ordered not to possess any firearms pending his appearance in Tauranga next month.
