A Tauranga restaurant manager caught drink-driving for the second time in four years has been given 12 months to prove himself suitable to hold a sale of liquor manager's licence.
The Alcohol Regulatory and Licensing Authority, that sat in Tauranga this week, adjourned an application by police to suspend Duncan James Hammon's general manager's certificate.
Mr Hammon, 38, who works at Neighbourhood Beer Kitchen in Cherrywood as general and duty manager, was convicted of driving with a blood alcohol limit of 213 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood in April 14 last year - the legal limit at the time was 80mg.
On March 17 last year Mr Hammon failed to negotiate a turn at the intersection of Sutherland Rd into Oceanview Rd, and crashed into a tree, resulting in a broken collar bone.
In 2010 his manager's certificate was suspended for 30 days after he was convicted of driving with an excess breath alcohol of 655 micrograms - more than one-and-half times the limit.
