The Crown has closed its case in the Maketu shooting murder trial and the defence has elected not to give or call any evidence.
Tyrone Daniel Flavell, 20, who is on trial in the Hight Court at Tauranga, does not deny shooting and killing 46-year-old Maketu man Isaac Bushell after shooting him in the chest in the township on December 8 last year.
But denies he had murderous intent.
The final two Crown witnesses gave evidence this morning, including a police expert who explained the workings of the 12-gauge pump action shotgun Flavell used to shoot Mr Bushell during a heated confrontation in the carpark near the Maketu foreshore.
An ESR scientist gave evidence the muzzle of the shotgun would have been between 50mm and 300mm away from Mr Bushell's green top when it was fired.
