Joseph Chiari was sharpening his hitting skills at tennis camp during the school holidays.
The Mount Maunganui 11-year-old said the camp at Blake Park had been a lot of fun.
The children involved in the camp were aged from 5 to 12 and attended from 9am to noon four days a week for the two weeks of school holidays.
"First we practised the shots, backhand and forehand, then we started playing games. It's mostly been playing real fun games and not so much really serious."
The children taking part in the camp collect points through the week for doing tasks such as picking up tennis balls.
