The man seriously injured after a seven car pile-up at a notorious Western Bay black spot is today recovering in a stable condition at Tauranga Hospital.
The 61-year-old Te Puke man was hurt when his car he was travelling in was involved in a head-on collision at the intersection of State Highway 2 and Te Matai Rd about 6pm yesterday.
A Tauranga Hospital spokeswoman said the man was in a stable condition today.
The crash also resulted in a series of nose-to-tail crashes.
Three other people were treated at the scene by St John ambulance officers.
