UPDATED 4.18pm: Police are advising traffic to steer clear of Cambridge Rd after two people were taken to hospital from a motorcycle crash this afternoon.

Traffic remains reduced to one lane on Cambridge Rd, near Fern Park Lane, after a motorcyclist became pinned between a car and a letterbox.

Western Bay of Plenty road policing Sergeant Mike Owen said a car had been travelling toward Tauriko when it attempted to turn right into a driveway.

A man following behind on a motorcycle attempted to pass the car, resulting in the two vehicles colliding, Mr Owen said.

The man was pinned for some time in pain before he was taken to hospital by St John ambulance staff.
