Children and their parents are having a blast at Tamariki Day.

The event is being held at Arataki Community Centre and has free rides and nibbles for the public.

Nga Potiki a Tamapahore Trust chairman Colin Reeder said the day was being held to encourage participation in early childhood education.

"The aim of this day is to celebrate our teachers."

Check out tomorrow's Bay of Plenty Times for more pictures from the event.
