AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd has appealed an Employment Relations Authority's order for him to pay more than $72,000 to three ex-staff unjustifiably sacked from his restaurant, Phil's Place.
Last month, after a long legal battle, the Authority found in favour of Hayden Clark, Janelle Kiwa and Alice Kiwi.
An Employment Court spokesperson confirmed today a "denovo'' challenge against the determination had been filed but as yet no hearing date had been scheduled.
An appeals court hearing a case "denovo" may refer to the trial court's record to determine the facts, but will but rule on the evidence and matters of law without giving deference to that court's findings.
A trial court may also hear a case de novo following the appeal of an arbitration decision.
