New crane to handle largest ships

Add a comment

The latest addition to Port of Tauranga's crane fleet will be capable of handling the largest ships anticipated to trade with New Zealand in the medium term.

The seventh crane for the Port's fleet will allow the Port to increase crane intensity on large ships and ensure high productivity.

The Liebherr Super Post Panamax ship-to-shore twin-lift gantry crane has been moved into position and is in its final stages of testing.

It is expected to be handed over for operations at Tauranga Container Terminal on Friday, March 28.
