The skies above Tauranga Airport will be buzzing with light aircraft for the next three days as pilots from throughout the country vie for honours in Flying NZ's national championships.

It is the first time competitions have been held in Tauranga for 20 years, with the top flyers competing for the Wings Trophy against Australia on Saturday.
