A woman allegedly drove drunk with two young children in the car after buying food at a Tauranga fast-food outlet.
Police say the woman was more than twice the legal drink drive limit.
Western Bay of Plenty head of road policing Senior Sergeant Ian Campion said police received a tip-off on Friday night after a woman who appeared to be drunk bought food from the Cameron Rd Burger King. She had two children, believed to be aged about 7, with her in the car.
Mr Campion said the car turned left on to Cameron Rd after leaving the restaurant.
Inquiries led police to a Tauranga central property, where they found a 44-year-old female matching the description of the driver, and breath-tested her, he said. The woman blew more than 1000 micrograms of alcohol per litre of breath. The legal limit is 400mcg.
