A Tauranga man is rebuilding a 1974 Triumph T1 50V Trident in memory of his daughter, who passed away last year after a long battle with a heart condition.
Mark Kimber has spent the past six weeks searching for parts to put the 750cc motorbike together and on March 1 the collector's item will be auctioned off to raise awareness and money for Heart Children Bay of Plenty.
Mr Kimber's daughter, Jesse Gibb-Kimber, died last October at age 21.
She endured a lifetime battle with a congenital heart defect and Mr Kimber said he wanted to do something for the organisation that helped his daughter so much.
He did not know much about Triumphs but was up for the challenge, he said.
