A Matakana Island resident had to be airlifted to hospital last night.
The Rotorua-based BayTrust Rescue Helicopter was called about 7.20pm. Pilot Barry Vincent said the 54-year-old man was suffering from a medical condition.
Mr Vincent said the man was taken to the Island's fire station and was treated bymedical personnel before being flown to Tauranga Hospital.
He said night vision goggles were also used by the crew to undertake the flight.
