An economic impact report on the $57 million internationally-branded hotel planned for opposite Tauranga's Baycourt Theatre has predicted $1.29 would be spent outside the building for every $1 spent inside the hotel.

Tourism Bay of Plenty general manager Rhys Arrowsmith's report to councillors yesterday stated it would employ 100 people.

Hamilton-based Tainui Holdings was part of a consortium selected as the preferred developer for the hotel on council-owned land.
