A man had to be cut from a car after a crash this morning.

The Tauranga-based TrustPower TECT Rescue Helicopter was called to the single-vehicle crash on State Highway 35, west of Te Kaha about 5am.

Helicopter pilot Liam Brettkelly said the car had four occupants. He said the car had hit a bank on the side of the road and had rolled.

Three people in the car suffered moderate injuries while another had serious chest and head injuries. He had to be cut from the car before he was flown to Tauranga Hospital in a serious condition.
