Let's party like there's no tomorrow

The world is predicted to end tomorrow and the owner of a bar named just for the occasion is planning a party to celebrate like there's no tomorrow, literally.

World's End Bar and Restaurant owner Cam Keogh is staging an end of the world party tomorrow night the end-date of a 5125-year-long cycle in the Mesoamerican Long Count calendar and the supposed end of the world.

"We're World's End and you have to have the end of the world at world's end," Mr Keogh said. "We knew the 21st was coming up and it was always going to be our thing ... Where better to have it?"

Staff will be decking the restaurant out in halloween decorations.

"Everyone can come in and wear whatever they like whatever they want to wear on their last day."

Mr Keogh said feedback had been great and he was expecting a big turnout for the party.

"I think everyone's having a bit of a laugh about it.'

But even if you were convinced the world was about to end you could still join the party, Mr Keogh said.

"The world's supposed to end on the 21st but that's in America so we've still got time."

The only difference would be the hangover you have when it goes up in smoke, he said.

The party starts at 8.30pm tomorrow.

The Mesoamerican Long Count calendar was used in Central America prior to the arrival of Europeans and a range of theories about what, if anything, will happen have been suggested. Some say Earth and its inhabitants may undergo a positive physical or spiritual transformation.
