Tauranga basked in glorious weather for Labour Day yesterday with the temperature reaching a balmy high of 17.4C.
Exchange students from Tauranga Boys' College Simon Comtesse, 16, and Max Effenberger, 16, were two of of just hundreds of people who made the most of the prelude to summer, down at Mount Maunganui's main beach.
The weekend overall was warm, with a high of 16C on Saturday and 17C on Sunday. Labour Weekend saw some cloud on each of the three days; and northerly breezes snuck in, in the afternoons.
Just over 2.8mm of rain was recorded at Tauranga Airport overnight between 9pm and midnight, and more rain is set to continue around the city today.
Metservice forecaster Rob Kerr said tomorrow will be fine in Tauranga, before a narrow ridge sneaks in and residents can expect cold southerlies tomorrow and on Thursday.
