If you've ever been to a Weetbix Kids TRYathlon then you know how amazing they are!
I have distinct memories of being a chubby wee kid and doing the swimming leg of the teams event in Wellington harbour back in the dark ages. I definitely was not the first out of the water that day. But also no tthe last (because there was a lifeguard bringing up the rear).
The point is I have fond memories of it being a great day, heaps of fun and lots of free things to win and participate in as a kid.
Fast forward 4 million years to Arataki Park out the Mt last Sunday and the 26th year of the Tryathlon was kicked off! We have the first one in the country every year. Mainly because we have the best weather and clearly like to set the bar high! The weather was perfect (almost too perfect), the event was sold out (more than 1430 kids participating) and the free activities to be a part of were soooo cool!
Best part ofthe day and best place to be is the finishing chute watching the kids come across the line. Some vomited (again, the weather was a little too perfect), some ran across holding hands, others looked like it was a stroll in the park and they'd be ready to go again in 10 minutes! I miss that energy level of my childhood self.
