Juliet Rowan asks why in some families, including her own, the women's biggest critics are each other
EVERY DAY, women are forced to make tough choices between work and family, whether it's taking a few hours off to go on a school trip with children or making a major career decision.
Sadly, we are often judged for our choices - and our harshest critics can be other women.
My sister is a doctor and recently sat a gruelling exam to become a medical specialist - a process she says showed her the ugly truth of female sexism.
She says the only person who supported her unequivocally in her decision to take the exam was our dad. He could see what the rest of us could not: that if she were a man her choice would have gone unquestioned.
The exam is held only once a year and some doctors fail four or five times, until they are barred from trying again.
