More than 50 double-decker buses are to roll out across Auckland from this October to July next year, after a rule change to allow heavier vehicles on city streets.
That will provide the Super City with capacity to carry 5000 more bus passengers at peak times.
NZ Bus, New Zealand's largest bus operator, has announces its purchase of 23 Enviro500 double decker buses from Alexander Dennis Limited (ADL), for its Auckland operations.
NZ Bus Chief Executive Officer, Zane Fulljames, said the addition of the new buses to the NZ Bus fleet, demonstrates its commitment to transforming Auckland's public transport network.
"Our investment in the new double decker buses not only reflects our partnership with Auckland Transport to deliver its plans for increasing patronage across the Auckland's public transport network, but also emphasises our focus on providing safe, reliable and comfortable journeys for our customers", said Mr Fulljames.
