Auckland attractions named in 2015 TripAdvisor Travellers' Choice Awards

Auckland Zoo has been named one of the South Pacific's top zoos in the 2015 TripAdvisor Travellers' Choice Awards.

A number of Auckland attractions have been named in TripAdvisor's Top 10 Travellers' Choice Awards for the South Pacific region.

The awards recognise the best amusement parks, water parks, zoos and aquariums around the globe.

Auckland Zoo has taken the fifth spot in the South Pacific zoos list.

The annual awards are based on the millions of valuable reviews and opinions from TripAdvisor travellers across the globe.

Other Auckland attractions making the top ten were Rainbow's End which came in at number seven on the top amusement and water parks list and Kelly Tarlton's Sea Life Aquarium which came in at number four out of the top ten aquariums.

Auckland Zoo Director Jonathan Wilcken said there's no doubting the value of visitor reviews in helping others to determine where the best places to stay, eat and visit are.

"To be rated amongst the very best in our part of the world speaks to the qualities of Auckland Zoo as a progressive conservation organisation that's focused on creating meaningful connections between people and wildlife to help save species from extinction."

Award winners were determined using an algorithm that took into account the quantity and quality of reviews for amusement parks, water parks, zoos, and aquariums worldwide, gathered over a 12 month period.
