Rotary Club of Downtown Auckland (RCDA) has donated $20,000 towards a new van for the Auckland City Mission.
The Toyota Hiace 10 seater passenger vehicle will be used by the Mission to transport clients as part of its Social Detoxification and Homeless services.
"The Mission's previous van was badly in need of replacement and we are incredibly grateful to the RCDA for providing us with such a generous donation towards the purchase of a replacement vehicle," says Auckland City Missioner, Dame Diane Robertson.
"The new van will allow us to transport clients involved in our Drug & Alcohol (Social Detoxification) and Homeless services programmes, so that they can attend meetings, go on organised outings and participate in Mission activities."
RCDA President, Mark Jenkins, says the donation came about as part of the organisation's commitment to making a positive difference to the Central Auckland community.
