A new survey of the world's best university cities shows that Auckland has slipped outside of the top twenty.
The ranking, compiled by the team behind the QS World University Rankings,
is based on five key pillars, which are then broken down into individual criteria: university rankings; student mix; quality of living; employer activity and affordability.
Topping the poll was Paris, followed by Melbourne and London.
Auckland came in at number 22, dropping four place from last year's 18.
Despite scoring very high in the student mix indicator which looks at the student make-up of the city, Auckland fell down in the employer activity indicator - a score based on the weighted count of domestic and international employers who identified at least one institution in the city as producing excellent graduates - and the affordability indicator.
