If the film reaches the top 50 entrants this month, it will go on to a voting phase on YouTube, hence Riddell's keenness to get as many people as possible to see it. The final 10 films will be shown and judged at the Venice Film Festival.
The film is a drama set in 1950s New Zealand and features 9-year-old Robbie (Louis James, pictured), who takes a ride on a steam train certain that he will have the best day ever.
The film was shot on the Glenbrook Vintage Railway, and took a little less than a month to complete, from its inception to its final edit.
Other short films will also be shown on the night; there will also be a bar and live music. If you can't make the event watch the film here

FREE TO LAUGH
Amnesty International wants to draw attention to the plight of artists in prisons as part of its campaign for freedom of expression as a human right for everyone.
It says in many parts of the world people aren't able to laugh - in Myanmar, comedian and satirist Zarganar was banned from performing publicly and was later sentenced to 35 years in prison for speaking out against the military government.
He served four years before being released in a prisoner amnesty last year.
Amnesty International is holding this fundraiser during the International Comedy Festival.
