The Wanganui Sailing Club will open its doors to the public this weekend to showcase the popular sport and celebrate Volvo Sailing and Boating Week 2016.
The week is a nationwide initiative from Yachting New Zealand running from February 13 to February 21. Special celebrations to showcase the sport will launch this Saturday and Sunday.
The Wanganui Sailing Club is holding an open weekend, inviting members of the public to head to the club in Gilberd St and have a go at sailing. Everyone is welcome, from juniors up to seniors and to experience the thrills and excitement of sailing people are invited to be at the club at 70 Gilberd St, Whanganui from 11.30am-2.30pm to enjoy a sail.
Volvo Sailing and Boating Week is designed to attract those completely new to the sport, people looking to get back on the water and those who sail regularly, and Wanganui Sailing Club is just one of many sailing and boating clubs and centres across New Zealand taking part in the 2016 week of celebrations
Kicking off on Saturday, participating clubs are opening their doors and offering activities throughout the week, or on a single day, with the event drawing to a close on Sunday, February 21.
