The Wanganui men's team were beaten semifinalists as their neighbours Taranaki went on to claim the Bowls NZ National Intercentre title at the weekend.
"The team again performed at the highest level with outstanding results, remembering each centre picks their seven-man side, who are the top bowlers from around the country with 26 centres each representing their province," said manager Mike Morgan.
Wanganui's squad finished top qualifier in their pool of six teams with 22 points.
Playing singles, pairs and fours matches against each province, teams received two points for a win and one for a draw.
The Wanganui fours team of Ray Park(s), Ray Savage, Alan Dickson and Tony McCrae won all their matches to be the backbone of the squad's early success.
