While the skill levels may have been a little embarrassing for some, they knew it was all for a very good cause at the Aramoho Bowling Club's annual Wanganui Car Centre Celebrity Bowls Day yesterday.
Twenty-eight teams played in the triples format, with their entry fees and the proceeds of an auction at the end of the day going towards the Wanganui Foster Care Association.
Organiser Royce Tunbridge said foster care was a very worthy recipient.
"Organisations like that deserve everything they can get."
Each team of three included a regular club bowler and Tunbridge said many of the "celebrities" were back for more after playing previous years, with some even joining various bowls clubs in town.
