After being torn up by boy racers a week ago, Victoria Park's No4 field may see some action for the opening week of the Wanganui Festival of Cricket after all.
Development officer Dilan Raj was delighted that after the damage caused by a car pulling doughnuts and wrecking the field's sprinklers last Saturday evening, local benefactors have come to their aid to help rehabilitate the pitch.
Both Bullocks Wanganui and Porter Hire offered up their heavy rollers to smooth out the gouges in the grass.
Meanwhile, a man who wished to remain anonymous gave Raj another set of sprinklers to use on the pitch.
Raj said they will not use No4 for the first couple of matches of the festival which starts on Monday with the Girls Under 15 national tournament but it is possible that it could see action later in the week.
