Wanganui born and bred racing driver Matt Gibson heads to the Mainland this weekend for the first round of the Toyota 86 Championship at Highlands Park in Cromwell.
This will be the first time the Lightingplus race team have visited or seen the newly-built Highlands Park motorsport facility.
"The team and I are really excited about the weekend ahead of us, the track is new to everyone in the 86 class so there should be a relatively even playing field," Gibson said.
"We are really excited about our new adventure with Matt Gibson Motorsport, the car looks great and Matt's driving style fits with it perfectly. We expect he will be a strong competitor in the series," Dave Barlow, general manager of Lightingplus said.
The team have been doing some pre-season testing in the wet and dry and have got relatively close to a perfect set-up in both weather conditions.
