Comparisons are already being drawn after Tim Pringle took a hat-trick in the first over of his first rep cricket match played in Wanganui this week.
The 9-year-old son of former Black Caps bowler Chris Pringle debuted in the rep ranks for his Western Bay of Plenty X1 in the under-11/Year 6 grade during the Wanganui Cricket Festival.
Coming on as second change bowler, the Matua Primary student sent three Manawatu batsmen packing, all caught, as Western Bay had a field-day with the ball, rolling their opponents for 42 in the 30-over clash. The hat-trick came with the final three of balls of his first over.
Pringle junior finished the six-match competition with a final tally of nine wickets and 24 not out and a five with the bat.
Later in the competition he was bumped up the order against Auckland and gave away just four runs from his first three overs, proving stinginess with the ball is genetic.
