Manawatu-Wanganui's good recovery in the last two rounds of the 2017 Toro Interprovincial women's tournament is still only good enough for a playoff for ninth at Sherwood Golf Club on Friday morning.
After losses to host team Northland, the undefeated Auckland and then Wellington, finally Manawatu-Wanganui picked up a 4.5-0.5 win over Aorangi on Wednesday afternoon, including Wanganui Golf Club's Tara Raj defeating Lynda Brown 4/3.
They followed up Thursday morning with a 3-2 win over Taranaki, with Raj beating Joanne McDonald 2/1.
That put Manawatu-Wanganui into the playoff for ninth with Hawkes Bay-Poverty Bay.
The semifinalists are Auckland, Bay of Plenty, Canterbury and North Harbour.
