Whanganui shoppers can now pick up, or drop off, reusable bags at the Whanganui Bag Recycling Project's station in Trafalgar Square.
The community project to encourage people to recycle and share non-plastic shopping bags was launched on Friday, October 27, with nearly 300 handmade fabric bags available for use.
Project spokeswomen Iva Leonard and Deb Halliday said their goal was to help reduce the environmental pollution caused by plastic bags.
