The proposed Bulls Community Centre has been given a $200,000 boost with a grant from the JBS Dudding Charitable Trust.
Earlier this year Rangitikei District Council gave the go-ahead for plans to be drawn up for the multi-purpose facility despite not having raised what was needed to complete the project.
In June $625,000 of the $1.7 million in external funding needed had been raised.
The project is a joint venture partnership with private developers and will be used as an information centre, town hall, library and bus stop among other things.
It is to be built on the site of the now demolished Criterion Hotel, and Rangitikei Mayor Andy Watson said the latest grant gave the council confidence in moving ahead with the project.
