To go or not to go ... that was the question facing motorists at a busy Whanganui intersection yesterday when the lights jammed on amber.
Without a green signal, traffic soon began to bank up along Victoria Ave and Dublin St around 2.30pm.
Motorists started to get a little twitchy with a number ducking past the amber light and cutting across the front of equally confused drivers.
Luckily, engineers were quickly on scene and traffic began flowing again about half an hour later.
A Whanganui District Council spokesman said the cause was a blown bul,b which caused the traffic lights to default to flashing amber, a legal requirement.
